Director David Onchagwa

David Onchagwa is an Environmental Health and Safety Manager at Texas A&M University at Qatar since 2008, with responsibilities for health, safety  and hazardous waste management programs. He has held several designations in health and safety in the last twenty years. He holds a BA in Geoscience from New Jersey City University and a MA in Environmental Management from Montclair State University in New Jersey, USA. Prior to joining TAMUQ, David worked for Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) in New York City as a laboratory safety specialist from 2004-2008 and prior to that as a field chemist for Clean Harbors Environmental, Safety Kleen and Ensco Companies from 2000 to 2004 in USA. He holds CSP, CHMM, REM, CSHM and CET certifications. David is also a Chartered (IOSH) member. He has had the opportunity to serve as a committee member for more than eight years and one term as branch secretary for the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) branch of Qatar. He is a designated IOSH trainer for the Texas A&M University at Qatar Training Center for Managing Safely, Working Safely and Leading Safely Courses. He has served as member of the Occupational Health and Safety Program Curriculum Review committee for College of North Atlantic-Qatar for the last three years. He has also served as a volunteer trainer for Chemical Safety and Security for several universities in Kenya.
